Self-hosting

Today self-hosting is cheap, easy and reliable, that paying some
random harmful corporation for VPS makes almost no sense.

Relatively good and stable internet connection is almost in every
village around the world. The hardware for a server is cheap and easy
to get almost everywhere. For around 50 euro or even less you can get
reliable single-board computer like Raspberry Pi or some other brands
using arm architecture. There are also many options for older x86-64
mini PC, small form factor computers around the same price with
similar computer performance and power consumption. Both hardware
options are powerfull enough for most things healthy people wish to
run on a server.

There are many small scripts, tiny programs and huge software around
the internet completely free for any kind of task. To setup all things
one just searches on the internet, ask some chatbot and all can be
done in one night.

You can often read online, how everything is hard, dangerous, not safe
and if you will self-host you will get headache, cancer, get into jail
and your electricity bill will be a million euro. Every bad Russian
and Chinese will get into your toaster and American agency will record
your every breath. All that legacy fallacy and virus of stupidity.

Email is hard and you can't get it done at home because god knows
what. Funny that practically every big VPS provider already blocks
port 25 so a mail server is not possible there, while it's possible
from home. Mail, web, Gopher or similar service today usually requires
like few lines in some configuration file and one, two commands to run
it. Of course some services have requirements in their standards or
some corporations require something to accept your server.

Self-hosting today is cheaper and often more reliable than paying some
corporation or random idiots for a service. The most important, it's
a bigger pleasure, more freedom and independence for you. Enjoy.
